Another Reason

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Hi Friend,

We market and advertise 2 Way Radio Express on the internet so we never know who is on the other end of the phone when we answer.

A few weeks ago a fellow from New York City was calling. This fellow is in the subway construction business (the conveyance not the sandwich).

He supervises a crew that pumps concrete from a truck at street level down a shaft into the subway tunnel. His crew stretches about a mile in either direction from the shaft. He told me his concrete truck operator needed to be able to talk to the crew in the tunnel. He told me the shaft was nearly 100 feet deep. The people in the tunnel needed to be able to tell the truck operator to turn on or off the flow of concrete. Oh, I almost forgot, he called on Tuesday and needed the equipment by Friday.

Jay and Grayson and I talked about how we could best and most economically solve the problem. We also called several people we know in the 2 way radio industry for their suggestions.

The final solution: ICOM Lite radios  programmed through a low wattage repeater located at the center point of the shaft.

On Monday our customer called to say in his heavy New York accent, “It worked like a charm. You guys are better sliced bread!”

2 Way Radio Reason #458

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Hi Friend,

Generally speaking 2 way radios improve safety, boost efficiency and increase productivity. However every application is a little different. Even though it is still ‘push to talk’ and ‘release to listen’ two way radios are used differently in a factory than in a dentist office or some other place.

At social events, church or just on the street it is not unusual for someone to ask, “What do you do for a living.” Of course I excitedly reply, “We sell two way radios.”

“Who buys two way radios?” they ask. At this point I launch into, “Schools, businesses and government agencies rely on 2 Way Radio Express for the best value in 2 way radios. We sell 2 way radios to doctor and dentist offices.”

“Whoa,” they say. “Why do dentists need 2 way radios?”

This is my cue to say, “Two way radios are ideal for busy dental offices and clinics. Two way radios provide immediate communications. Push the button and talk to everyone or just one staff member. Two way radio communication can expedite the flow of people and information through a dental facility. Small and lightweight modern 2 way radios aren’t much bigger than a cell phone. There are no monthly fees. Audio accessories provide maximum privacy and prevent anyone from eavesdropping. Some models both talk and text.”

By this time I have usually lost my audience. “Too much two way,” as we sometimes say.

Intrinsically Safe Radios

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Hi Friend,

When electricity is discharged across a gap it is said to “spark”. Depending on the distance or gap sparking can be visible or may be so small as to be undetectable.

Visible or undetectable the spark can ignite anything in its path that is flammable. The more flammable the greater chance that a spark can ignite the material.

Sparking can occur with most any electrical device and even through a static electric discharge.

This spark can be very dangerous in areas of high flammability. Places where there are open containers of petroleum products or silos with flammable dust from agricultural products are particularly vulnerable.

Fortunately some 2 way radios are certified to not spark. These radios are called ‘Intrinsically Safe’ because they are built to not spark regardless of the circumstances.

Intrinsically Safe radios cost more than regular 2 way radios but guarantee safe operation in areas where there is a risk of explosion, ignition or fire.

Intrinsically Safe radios are certified by Factory Mutual Global to not spark. Factory Mutual Global is an industrial property insurance and risk management organization specializing in property protection. Factory Mutual Global establishes the criteria for certification and insures against the loss if there is a mishap.

Call 2 Way Radio Express for more information on Intrinsically Safe radios. Doing business with us is not only easy…. its safe.

Reason #457

Monday, December 12th, 2011

Hi friend,

My wife is the coordinator of education for the Philharmonic Center here in town. This is a very busy time of year for her.

Her department is responsible for recruiting and training young people to perform in several Christmas events. Some of these events are youth choral performances and others are larger performances that feature the youth choral.

The Philharmonic Center campus has entrances and exits on all sides and there are roadways on all four sides as well. My wife has the responsibility for the logistics of moving nearly 100 kids on to and off of the stage. Additionally she makes sure all the kids get picked up after the concert.

After a concert there are children and parents and patrons coming and going in all directions. It isn’t my cup of tea but my wife is a master at this sort of thing.

One of the ways she is able to execute these events flawlessly is by using 2 way radios. She has a perfect record of no kids lost, no kids damaged and no kids who have spent the night in a drafty theatrical house because their parents couldn’t find them.

She uses 2 way radios to communicate backstage during performances and with parking attendants after the show. Guess who provides the radios? Dut Dut Daaa! 2 Way Radio Express is the official provider of radios to my wife.

And this is reason #457 to only buy radios from 2 Way Radio Express.

Best Wishes

A Little Help From Our Friends

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Hi, Friend

A colleague of mine from some years ago signed his email and letters, Your Radio Friend.

At first I thought, Your Radio Friend, was an odd expression. I have come full circle. I now believe friend accurately describes the relationship we have with our customers.

Because we are in sunny Naples, Florida and our customers are in all 50 states we usually do not meet customers face to face. Most of our relationships are on the phone, through the internet, fax or by email. We can only speculate what our customers look like in person.

Fortunately most of our customers do business with us several times a year. Over time we become friends with our customers. We like to say, “Doing business with us is easy.” We think being a good business vendor and partner is the best way to become friends.

We recently added a “How Did We Do?” page to our website. We need your help. Please visit the How Did We Do? page and tell us how we did.

We are always looking for ways to improve our service to you and thereby deepen our friendship.

I hope you have a terrific Christmas and the best New Year ever.

Best Wishes,

Manzie R Lawfer
