Hurry Hurry

Thursday, July 31st, 2014

Hi Friends,

Do you browse the Craigslist ads when you are looking to buy something? Craigslist is a terrific way to get a deal on a used car, stewpot, lawnmower or just about anything.

The thing that tickles me about Craigslist is the descriptive phrases like, “perfect…small tear in seat” or “like new…needs A/C re-charged.” How can it be perfect if the seat is ripped or the A/C needs to be recharged?

That doesn’t mean there aren’t great deals on Craigslist.

Have you noticed how many ads shout “Hurry, Limited Time Offer.“ Are they running out of stuff to sell? If they are running out of stuff why are they giving a special deal?

I take offense to “You qualify!” or “You may qualify.” Lately I have qualified for loans, leases, hair removal and insurance quotes. All God’s children are special so I’m not sure how I have uniquely qualified or have become well qualified (as the ad requires).

Too much mumbo jumbo. Or as C. Berry sang “Too Much Monkey Business.”

I like the marketing model used by good local hardware stores. They have what you need whether it is a little spring or a button to match your other buttons. They have new stuff but the price on their old stuff never seems to change. They have the correct size furnace filter and they remember your name when you stop in.

There is no “last chance” or “limited time” it is all the time and every time. Even when they don’t have it, the answer is we can get it for you.

We aspire to be more like the local hardware store than the Super Sellers. We like talking to our customers and hearing about how they will use the equipment they buy.
We like being able to offer the same great deal this year that we provided last year.

A couple of years ago we offered buy 5 and get the 6th for free. We are still making the same offer. When you buy 5 of most anything we sell you will get the 6th for free. Give us a call. Doing business with 2 Way Radio Express is consistently easy.

What Is Your Nickname?

Tuesday, July 8th, 2014

Hi Friends,

Do you always use your real name? I have an unusual first name and I sometimes use a made up name. For example I do not give my real name at carry out restaurants or when putting my name on a restaurant waiting list. I usually tell them my name is Skipper.

Skipper is much easier to pronounce than my name. I can hear Skipper more clearly when it is shouted out than my own name. Also there are not that many Skippers around so the hostess is not inclined to ask for a last name or initial. I don’t think there is anything wrong with using an alias.

My son Matthew works in broadcasting.  His on air alias is Josh Carter. When he first started in radio the station manager told him he would grow to hate himself if he used his real name. Ergo non de plume.

There are several websites for musicians or would be musicians. I am a would be musician. I have played guitar and sang for a long time but it has really just been for fun.  Playing music is great fun and the musician websites provide an avenue for us would be’s to find and contact each other.

I have decided to use a stage name for my contact info on the musician’s website. I don’t want to use Skipper as my alias. I don’t want to here someone say, “Hey that’s Skipper playing the guitar. I saw him pick up a pizza just a few days ago.”

My stage name is Sand Man. It is an alternative to Beach Boys. Get it? Sand Man. Cool right?

When you call for help with getting the best walkie talkies for your application and budget you can ask for Manzie or Sand Man and you’ll get me. 2 Way Radio Express delivers the best value in 2 way radio equipment to your door.  Doing business with 2 Way Radio Express is easy.
