When you talk in person (or on the phone) with someone; you and the other person can both talk at the same time. This is called full duplex communication.
Push to Talk (PTT) is half duplex communication. Think walkie talkie or 2 way radio. You talk and the other person listens. Then the other person talks and you listen. Half duplex is a very efficient way to communicate. A regular phone calls requires dialing a number, a phone ringing, someone answering and the caller identifying themselves all before the actual subject of the call is announced.
PTT phone conversation starts with the subject of the call being announced. For example imagine you operate several greenhouses with workers scattered around the property. Each worker is carrying a PTT equipped cellphone. You need more potting soil in front of greenhouse #6. You simply push the button and announce “more potting soil in front of #6.” Someone responses, “I am on the way boss.”
Oh, by the way distance is not a factor. Because this technology combines PTT and cell phones, this system works anywhere cell phones work. One greenhouse can be in Ohio and the other in California.
We call this system “Straight Talk.” It is not only efficient, it is inexpensive. Straight Talk can be added to any Smart Phone, Tablet, PC or even 2 way radio system. Straight Talk can also be used between different phones and carriers. So some of your workers can be using iPhones on ATT while others are using Blackberries or Androids on Verizon.
Straight Talk cost only $5 per month per user and can connect just 2 people or 100’s of people at the same time.
