Does the word genius come from the root word genuine or genesis? I don’t know but it seems that genius, genuine and genesis all have a connection.
The “Genius Bar” at the local Apple Store not withstanding have you noticed how a true genius has an ability to explain things in the most rudimentary terms. The simple explanation is the easiest to understand. That’s the genius.
Shakespeare was a literary genius. He explained the human condition in simple but dramatic terms: “Expectation is the root of all heartache.”
This simplicity is the core of being genuine. It is basic but it is real and it is profound.
True genius is rooted in the most basic truths and principles. Einstein, Newton, Edison and all the geniuses of art and science have had first and foremost a total command of the fundamentals.
My sister is a terrific cook. She is a fabulous baker. Her genius is baking. Her pies and cakes are true art. Her genius does not lie in complexity. Her genius is not expressed in fancy multiple layering or frosting that depicts a famous face or scene. Her genius is texture and taste: the most fundamental nature of the baking art.
My sisters work in the kitchen is rooted in years of genuine experience. I remember when she got married. Up until getting married she never really did any cooking or baking. Soon after the honeymoon my sister started making pies. She would bake a pie and then sit back and critique her work. Too much water. Too little sugar. The dough is overworked. The pie is undercooked. She must have made a thousand pies. Through genuine experience she gained her genius.
Today when my sister bakes she doesn’t make marinated Northumbrian raspberry strata pound cake parfait. Instead she will spend hours perfecting a simple strawberry pie or red velvet cake or even the common biscuit.
Genius is genuine and is rooted in the most basic fundamentals.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. – William Shakespeare
Would you be just as likely to buy Post-it-Notes from a company named Minnesota, Mining and Manufacturing as a company named 3M?
How about IBM? Is International Business Machines a trustworthy name for a computer provider?
Would you be more likely to buy a Datsun or a Nissan?
Madison Avenue firms have touted the value of logos and brand names since there has been a Madison Ave.
Crocs and Ughs have a big following with their cutesy names but would these shoe companies be just as successful with Model A and Model T monikers? Henry Ford did pretty good with these names. I suspect Toms Shoes did not pay a huge sum to a marketer for their brand name. Just a guess.
I like clever names as well as the next guy. “Just Deserts” is a great name for a bakery or “For Goodness Sakes” is a great name for a health food/vitamin store. But I am not sure they owe their success to their names.
My name is Manzie. I don’t run across my name much. It wasn’t easy being a child with Manzie as a name but it is a terrific adult name. It is a memorable adult name. It is fun to say. Go ahead and say “Manzie.” If you are in a crowded room or office right now you can just mouth the word “Manzie”. Go ahead and say it. You’ll like it. Even if you are in a crowded room you can still say “Manzie.” I doubt anyone will know what you are saying.
I do not want to belabor the exercise but 2 Way Radio Express is also fun to say. Try it….2 Way Radio Express. Pretty good!
2 Way Radio Express is not only fun to say, doing business with us is easy. Let us help you find the best 2 way radios for your needs and budget. Give us a call at 239-601-1969 or visit us at 2WayRadioExpress.com.

The ever studious Joy Ann is a nutrition expert. “Sniffles? Eat some blueberries. Too much stress? Sunflower seeds will help relieve the symptoms of stress. Let your medicine be food and food be your medicine.” she tells me.
And so we are blessed to have The Fresh Market just across the street from our home. The Fresh Market is like a show place for food. There is theatrical lighting in the produce and meat sections. The specialty foods are showcased like a performance is about to take place. The Fresh Market is a great place to shop or just visit.
The Fresh Market is a little more expensive than Publix but the selection is more gourmet and the fruit is much more predictable.
There doesn’t seem to be much difference with lettuce or cabbage or carrots or squash. A cabbage from Publix is just as fresh and tasty as a head of gourmet cabbage from The Fresh Market. There doesn’t seem to be much difference with peas or beans either. If there is a price difference I can buy these items from Publix with no fall out from the ever vigil Joy Ann.
Fruit is what separates the men from the mice. A lesser strawberry is no strawberry at all. Blackberries, blueberries or any berry is either good or it is not.
Joy Ann enjoys an orange most afternoons. It is her “fruit snack.” California Navels, Florida Honey Bells and Valencias are just a few of the terrific oranges we find at The Fresh Market. But beware, just because it is a California Navel doesn’t mean it will past the taste test. Many orange halves have gone the way of our garbage disposal.
On an unrelated note, half an orange makes a heck of noise going through the garbage disposal although there is a pleasant citrus aroma following all the commotion.
Let us help you find the best 2 way radios for your application. 2 Way Radio Express is standing by with help from 8 till 8 Monday through Saturday. 2 way radios can improve your safety, efficiency and productivity. 2 way radios are better than blueberries. Call 2 Way Radio Express today.

Our office is in Naples, Florida. Naples is a resort town. People come from all over the world to visit our little town. The weather is great. We have a slew of great restaurants. The sunsets are fabulous. The architecture is gorgeous. We are on the Gulf of Mexico. The beaches are filled with beautiful people and you can watch the dolphins and pelicans play all day. So it is no wonder that we see famous people from time to time.
This morning the athletic Joy Ann and I were riding our bikes when we spotted Larry Bird out for a walk. Larry is pretty easy to spot. His face is visually distinctive and he is noticeably tall. I am guessing the woman he was walking with is his wife. I said, “hello” and he graciously replied, “hi”.
We hear that Bob Seeger has a home in Naples. We saw Judge Judy at a local ice cream shop. We watched Bret Baird and his family at our neighborhood beach. As we past each other I cleverly asked the Fox News anchorman, “What’s up.” He politely answered, “Hello.”
I saw Paul Teutul Sr. from American Chopper at a stop light sitting on a huge motorcycle with a flashy babe hanging on to him for dear life. That guy has arms the size of watermelons.
Mike Ditka had a restaurant in Naples a few years ago. It was a great spot and Mike was in the house many of the times we visited. One evening the gourmet Joy Ann, my father and my mother (god rest her soul) were leaving when Mike Ditka reached over the bar to shake my hand and ask, “How was your meal?” “Everything was great!” I replied. The next day I strutted around announcing to my colleagues how Mike and I had been chatting about the finer points of the culinary arts.
I think it is cool living somewhere that people drive a thousand miles to visit.
Visit us on the web or give us a call at 239-601-1969. Let us help you find the best 2 way radios for your school or business. 2 way radios improve safety, efficiency and productivity. Happy New Year.

A few months ago the ever inquisitive Joy Ann came across an article dissing wheat. Wheat used to be good for us but the article claims that the wheat we eat today is genetically engineered and is no longer nutritious. As a matter of fact our modern bodies do not even recognize this altered wheat as food. Consequently our bodies store the stuff because it can’t figure out how to digest it. Then this stored non food creates inflammation in our joints. What a mess!
Being the new age kind of guy I am I decided to stop eating wheat. At first it seemed like everything had wheat in it and there was nothing I could eat. There are some folks who are highly intolerant of gluten. These people convulse if there is a spec of wheat in anything they eat. I was not one of those people. I just wanted to refrain from wheat for a few months as a test. The article said “lose the wheat, lose the weight.” I am always enthused about losing a few pounds.
It has been about 3 months since I’ve eaten wheat. If I have lost any weight it has been minimal. I do feel good. I feel more flexible. I can’t touch the back of my head with my elbow or anything like that but I do feel more limber.
We discovered wheat-less crackers made from nuts, bread made from rice flour and pasta made from something we couldn’t pronounce that cost 3 times as much as regular pasta.
So my cousin Enzo and his wife Elenore are in town and we pick up a pizza from Peppi’s. Peppi’s is just across the street and has terrific pizza. But not for me. Did I not notice that a principle ingredient of pizza is WHEAT! I never had a problem with wheat until I stop eating wheat regularly. Two slices of Peppi’s finest and I felt terrible. I had the shakes and a fever and generally felt miserable.
Lesson learned? Not quite. It has been a few weeks since the Peppi’s episode. I don’t know why but on Sunday morning I had this craving for Bob Evans buttermilk pancakes. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me that the principle ingredient of Peppi’s pizza is the same principle ingredient in Bob Evans buttermilk pancakes. I had the shakes and a fever and generally felt miserable.
I had the shakes and a fever and generally felt miserable.
The moral to this story is if you are going to lose the wheat lose it for good.

We are a solutions based company. We sell great products at affordable prices but we are really a provider of solutions. We believe 2 way radios are the best way to increase safety, efficiency and productivity.
This year we have been able to provide even greater solutions with 2 new products.
The first product is the TecNet TP-8000 waterproof radio. If you haven’t seen the video you should visit our website and click on the “Click here to watch a video demonstrating the durability of the TecNet TP-8000 radios.” The video shows this radio being dunked in a creek, shot with a powerful rife and dropped off a thirty foot platform. If you need exceptional durability in a low price this is a great radio for you. The TecNet TP-8000 is regularly priced at $329 but for a limited time is on sale for only $299.
The second new product that delivers an increase in safety, efficiency and productivity is Straight Talk. Straight Talk connects any two or more broadcast areas (this means you can talk across the street or across town or across the country). Straight Talk let’s you use your cell phone, computer, tablet or any device with an IP address to talk to each other or 2 way radios from anywhere in the world. Straight Talk is available in four versions: Straight Talk Fixed Site, Straight Talk Mobile, Straight IWalkie and Straight Talk for Fleets. Straight Talk is available for as little as $5.

I am in awe of technology. It seems like it was just a few years ago I had a next door neighbor that worked for Humana and his department was the first to introduce electronic mail. “They call it Email,” he told me. “They told us not to use any humor through email because the fellow on the other end might take the joke the wrong way and the result could have unintended consequences.” He described email as a kind of telegram that went from office to office. (There was no hope of this crazy email ever being available for home use.) This was in 1984.
Technology is our business today. We sell 2 way radios but our whole delivery system is based on technology. Our accounting is technology based. Our marketing and logistics are technology based and of course our communications are technology based.
The great part of technology is that there are constant breakthroughs. Today we are learning about a revolutionary new product that will change the way businesses communicate and dispatch cars and trucks they use to make deliveries or transport people.
Our new product is a two way radio that doesn’t have distance limitations. Think of this new radio as a private channel CB radio that can talk from vehicle to vehicle across town or across the county or across the country. This new radio is durable enough to be mounted in a truck. It is loud enough to be heard over the truck’s rumble and roar. It is push to talk. No fumbling around to find the cell phone or the dangers of dialing numbers while operating a big truck or a vehicle filled with passengers.
Crystal clear sound, unlimited distance, private conversation, push to talk ease of operation and immediate communications make this a magic box.
This 2 way radio is not available just yet but if you have interest give us a call and we can provide more details. Give us a call about any of your two way radio needs. Doing business with 2 Way Radio Express is easy.

Marketing people are excited about telling us to use social media to boost our business. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are just a few of the possibilities. The idea is to tell the world that you sell real estate or widgets or in our case the best value in 2 way radios.
We use all three of the afore mentioned social media choices but I’m not sure that it has caused us to sell a single radio. What we have done is reconnect with old friends and family.
LinkedIn was the culprit today. LinkedIn must mine contact information by cross referencing address books because this morning I got an email that had a long list of names with the query “do you know…Michael Persaud, Patrick Nolan, Barry Williams” and so on.
BARRY WILLIAMS! Bingo Bango! I haven’t talked to Barry Williams in years. Barry and I knew each other in Louisville in the 1980’s. Barry dated my sister-in-law, Christine. (She is the older sister of my former wife whom I no longer speak to, thank you.)
I remember Barry as a kind of a quirky fellow. Even today he describes himself as being cut out of the same cloth as Seinfeld’s, Kramer.
Barry was very active in the Louisville Jaycees back then. At one of the Jaycees dinner meetings some of the member put on skit based on Johnny Carson’s popular character The Great Carnac. Carnac was a “mystic from the east” who could psychically “divine” unseen answers to unknown questions. Carson would appear as The Magnificent Carnac wearing an oversized turban and sequined robe. Barry Williams recreated the role as the Great Bearnac and had friends calling him Bearnac for years later. Barry was great fun back in the day.
So I sent a “LinkedIn invite” to Barry and only a few moments later the phone rings and it is the Great Bearnac. We had a ball visiting by phone this morning.
Barry didn’t need 2 way radios and I didn’t need the doodads he sells but thank you very much LinkedIn.
On second thought maybe we could use some of the advertising pens, shirts, hats and other doodads the Great Bearnac sells.
